I tend to not like the TV News. But I caught Bob Schieffer's closing statement on CBS today and enjoyed it. It follows. :
"So that's the news, the sports news, the sports crime news and we had that story about goats..."

OK I'm proving dryad271 wrong. Or mostly wrong.
Ten years ago: Being shocked (pleasantly) that my new job not only paid me a living wage. but it gave free Seattles Best Coffee
Five years ago: Planning A camping trip/excuse to drive my then newish car into the country
One year ago: Begining to fume about the incompetence of Home Lenders. However Enjoying the ability to walk.
Yesterday: Shirking my self-imposed responsibility of going to the gym in favor of driving around and discovering that the ghetto grocery store in my neighborhood is closing down.
Today: Doing neck stretches, enjoying the sun. being a Museum Docent.
Tomorrow: Sleeping in. Conference call from hell (Billings MT) Software vendors.
Five snacks I enjoy: pepperoni, chips with guacamole, cheeseburger/fried rice, chocolate chip cookies, cheese.
Five bands that I know the lyrics of MOST of their songs: Most of their songs? um, I'm not that musical. eh, The POlice?
Five things I would do with $100,000,000: Pay off Debts (duh). Put Family straight. I have a pact with some coworkers in the case we win this; I'd honor that. Make up a 'Job' and rent some office space and not tell anyone about my windfall. buy lots of candy!
Five locations I'd like to run away to: dryad271's choices are good. To them I add. Puerto Vallarta, Port Townsend, Las Vegas, Pompei (I'm Not afraid), and Vermont is sounding ok at the moment.
Five things I like doing: Various Exploration activity, Talking about Math, Drinking Beer, Helping People, singing (mostly to myself).
Five things I wish I could wear: A spacesuit. Xray Glasses. Shoes that heal feet. the 'men in black' suit (the last suit you'll ever wear). bullet proof vest. (i can wear anything I want)
Five TV shows I like: The King of Queens, MythBusters, Monty Python's Flying Circus, The Red Green Show, The Last of the Summer Wine. (you can tell I only get PBS pretty much right now)
Five movies: The Village, Pulp Fiction, Napoleon Dynamite, 2010 The Year We Make Contact, The Shawshank Redemption.
Five famous people I'd like to meet: argh this is hard. Judge Judy, The late Pope (not this new guy), Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, Dr. Drew.
Five biggest joys at the moment: walking, nice weather, parents aren't dying, house, music.
Five favorite toys: not a toy person at the moment. but i drive my car around enough that that qualifies.

ok it's a lie. :
after playing around a bit with the 'configuration' of my livejournal page, I discover that I did update a few times in the past year of 2004. But so what! I'll do whatever I feel like doing!

no wrad dna pu draw:
deer god, i'm updating again. mostly because i surfed to my main page and saw 2003 which mostly fills me with unsavory whimsy and gobbledy goop. if the clocks are synchronized you can see that it is fecund early morning by the time stamp. now here will be a 2005 entry. Lovely, no? Crisp also is the tempurature, a nice 28 by the wunderground. A mere 6 miles away, on the coast, there is a 38. and my head is swirling with current events. one of the nicer of which involves the brits exonerating, after decades, the conlons and the mcguires in the bar bombing figillisco featured in the you may remember movie "in the name of the father." i think i might pick up that movie again and see what's what. anyhow i hope everyone is enjoying the ends of their late night naps. 'morning!

fast food koan:
ok, i appeal to your collective internet searching capabilities.
1) who remembers a period during the eighties when Jack n the Box changed its name (and by result logo and decor) to Monterey Jack's?
2) who (besides me) cares about this moment of new cokey flip-flopping?
3) who can find pictures of the old logo/restaurants on the internet?
4) who would like to apply this concept (along with new coke, and jackson international airport) to the buddhist concept of pervasive ephemerality?

look at me; i'm updating :
i'm amazed at the fact that i can function as something approaching normal. how long will it last. not very. though i hold out hope.
get your crowns out folks and wear them nice. i have the day off and am going to use it for constructive purposes, it seems. since i wish not to jinx myself as appears to be my eventual groove, i won't go into concretions about it all. sufficed to say it's windy as a gourmand here and i'm shuddering at the shutters.
can this last?
